Adding a Facebook Fan Page Should NOT Be Hard

So today I finally bit the “bullet” and decided to create a FaceBook Fan page. Funny, I don’t much feel like a celebrity; but I am very much into marketing and knew that down the road the 5,000 friend limit for my FaceBook profile would bit me in the butt.

Any how I wanted to get a vanity name because let’s face it…FaceBooks long as string of names for your fan page just doesn’t cut it. So first you have to find out even where to add a fan page.

Yup, check got that! Add a FaceBook Fan Page

Yes, it’s almost like setting up your regular site. Can have notes, etc.

Then you have to start getting fans so you can get the vanity name–hey I’m a celebrity–gotta have a vanity name right? So in your new Fan Page; click on Settings (top right). Click on change name and you should see a drop-down for your new page. Mine was called Holly Powell–what else? Right?

Now because I am already using hollypowell for my regular facebook profile I can’t use that for my fan page too. So I chose whoishollypowell and it worked!

But wait…you can’t get a vanity name for your fan page until you have 25 fans! Now if you want to know how to get 25 fans in less than 2 hours! You gotta comment on this post and I’ll turn you over to my secret star!

Keeping WordPress Secure

Your wordpress needs to be updated. If you have not been keeping up with your upgrades; now is the time to make that happen.

Rather than explaining here I will paste the link from WordPress

WordPress Attack

Update it today. Do not delay.

You can update right from your blog backoffice.

Login to your wordpress dashboard. Backup backup backup

For backup directions check out the following:

Backing Up your WordPress

You can also complete the following…but it is certainly not the preferred method.

Click on Tools
Click on Export
Export all users

After that IF you see at the top of your dashboard a link that says WordPress 2.8.4 is available…click on Please Update now.

It’s also important to note that if you login and see a number next to your plugins that is an instant message to you that your plugins need to be updated. By keeping your blog updated you have less chance of being exposed to these silent but deadly “worms”.

De-clutter Your Inbox

De-clutter Your Inbox

Talk about clutter; phew, did I have it or what? I’m not talking about household clutter…I’m so busy working on my business I didn’t realize how much the clutter was wearing me down. I just wasn’t productive. I’d look around my desk and see all the receipts, emails, filing and well you know the drill…you never end up getting anything done…

In the past 72 hours I balanced my paypal, alertpay, business checking, and my personal checking…In addition, I deleted over 2,000 emails from my inbox(es). If you’re like me you have several emails.

I am even in the process of deleting some of the email accounts that I have; after all how many do I really need?

1 for personal emails
1 for my autoresponder
1 for my store/support
1 catchall for all the social networks I belong to

Trust me I had way more than that!

So I took a gander and hit delete to clean up…yes I deleted every single email in all of those accounts; except for one and I’m in the process of deleting those too. I had folders for everything; I deleted those too. Geez, who has time to read all that crap?

Now when I receive notification about my alertpay or my paypal; I immediately put it in my Quick Books. When I receive an email from one of my favorite “gurus” I read and hit delete. IF I feel that I need to save it; I will in a folder called Checking This Out…if I don’t get around to it in a week…then I hit delete!

I am now free to be more productive…I challenge you today; clean out your inbox, balance your checkbooks, throw away unwanted clutter in your office…

Let me know how it goes for ya by posting a comment below. I’d love to hear how you feel after you de-clutter.

Something About 3rd Party Validation

You know I could toot my own horn about the services I provide at NonStopSocialMedia but you would probably turn a deaf ear. That is why it’s so important to build relationships with other marketers.

You see when I talk about my services; you don’t know if it’s all about self-promotion; but when you hear from others it makes a difference. So here are some recent comments I’ve received from others:

Gavin Mountford created a blog about our services at NSSM. While you’re looking over his site; be sure to subscribe to his site. I’m telling you that this guy knows what he’s talking about and is a success in his own right.

Lori Thomas says, “So, glad I met Holly on Facebook when I was looking to update my website.  She was so helpful in answering my questions and I ask a lot.  Her marketing techniques are not only current but also relevant as she takes the time to really care about her client’s success.

I ended up getting so much more than expected with a new blog site and at the same time, I learned much more about social media marketing. Thanks again, Holly, for your time and efforts.” Lori T

Yes, we helped Lori with her site.

So listen if you’re holding back because you think you can’t afford to have a self-hosted blog you haven’t seen what I have to offer. My blog packages start at $47.00. So head on over to NonStopSocialMedia and see what’s happening!

Working on a Project

Just a quick update. I just got back from having a nice quiet evening out with my hubby. We started at Bella Cucina. Jesse had Orange Glaze chicken wings and I had lemon pepper wings. Yes, they were good. My husband is a Chef there and we have not eaten there together since he started working there.

Then we went for a drink at a new Irish pub here in Southport, NC called Slainte’ (I think I spelled it right)

Anyway, it was a nice evening; but I wanted to update you on something I’m working on…with my friend @marjwyatt. I can tell you that it has to do with blogs (duh!) and using your blog to build your online brand. I am so looking forward to delivering this product to all of my online friends.

While I can’t give you too many details–as we don’t want to ruin the surprise–I will tell you that you are going to learn so much about the blog platform and why we love it so much.

And don’t even try to get the answer from my friend Marj. She’ll be as tight-lipped as I am. You’ll just have to wait.

Are You Chum For the Next Guru’s Launch?

This is my first Facebook video. I also wanted to clear up the issue about my hair. Yes, I said hair. So many of my friends have told me they love my new profile picture. Well, does Holly have long hair or short hair?

Watch the video you’ll find out.

And, I had to get something off my chest about well my title. Are you in the feeding frenzy of every guru’s launch? Do you implement the training that you’ve spent $1,000′s for?

Comment here on my blog and let me know the training that you have purchased. Let me know if it is clogging up your hard drive or if you have actually implemented your training. If so, with what results?
