Make Those Dials

If you’re not willing to make those dials here is what you need to do. Take the phone and well the picture says it all…”yes you’re throwing money toilet down the toilet”.

Listen, I know how scary the phone can be for a lot of people. My very first job  required me to make outbound phone calls to random companies to schedule appointments for our sales staff. I was so nervous and scared it seemed like that phone weighed 10,000 pounds but guess what??? I got over it and began to get more and more comfortable with the phone.

You see Social Media Marketing, Web 2.0 Marketing, Social Networking, or whatever you want to label it is powerful. If you brand yourself and provide valuable content to the marketplace and work social media the right way you will get laser targeted leads.

Imagine a person comes to your capture page and fills out their information for more details on your business opportunity. In doing so they leave you a valid phone number on the opt in form if you have that option available. The crazy thing is most social media marketers won’t pick up the phone and contact that prospect to introduce themselves and thank them for checking out their business. Make sure the prospect doesn’t have any questions.

You are invited to join me live Jan. 28th from 11am EST – 3PM EST as I make outbound calls to prospects from our database of leads who have opted into our various sites and left us a valid phone number. I want to really help people win in social media this year and I will share with you some simply techniques and hopefully help you break your fear of using the phone with these powerful targeted leads social media will provide you.

So listen in live while I make those dials.

Come join me at http://www.ustream.tv/channel/gutz-media-training

Jan. 28th 11am EST – 3pm EST

Let’s have some fun and defeat this 10,000 lb. Gorilla that scares the heck out of most people. See you on the live webcast.

Dish It Out I Can Take It

I received a series of emails today from someone on a few of our lists. To make a point of this blog I am going to share with you the heading of the emails and the reply email I received for each.

#1
Email title:
Re: Congratulations [name withheld], You’ve Just Made A Commission!

Email subscriber response:

Emails with subjects like this one especially coming from company owners/officials are misleading and deceptive and should be avoided. The emails coming form owners/company officials should never be anything but the truth. You got to take your business more seriously. You never kid or tease people like that.
I have never seen emails with such deceptive subjects coming from company owners/officials in my over 20 years of corporate experience.

My response:

I did not write these [name withheld]. And to be honest it’s marketing. If you watch TV it happens all the time; not only in TV but in print media as well.

Subscriber Re-response (yeah I know not a word)
“Quote”
It is unprofessional conduct. You may see something like this in comedy programs to laugh at. You may continue with this practice if you want people to laugh at your business.
“End Quote”

My notes:

What should I have done? hmmm, well…
I probably should have gone into more detail on this response; however, I was in a hurry. Hindsight as you know is 20-20–I may have mentioned the print media from Publisher’s Clearing House–you know the one’s–”hey you’ve just won $1,000,000″, blah blah blah–come on people it’s marketing…but at this point I did not respond at this point; what was the use?

Email #2 subscriber had issue with
Email title:
Re: Get off my list [name withheld] if you won’t trade $1.00 for YOUR Success!

Email subscriber response

I really find this mail to be rude, offensive and insulting. I didn’t deserve to be Yelled at even if I had not signed up for this. But the fact of the matter is that I did sign up for it soon after I received the first email. You simply don’t have your facts straight.

As a sponsor it was far more important for you to follow up with me to make sure that I was not having any difficulty in setting up the system instead of sending me nasty reminders like this one.
I have been struggling to set up the system and you guys have provided me little help for setting up the system. I question myself as to why I have to sign up under you and not under somebody who really knows how to respect and take care of people sponsored. The worst thing you can do for your business is to start taking people for granted. I hope that you would put an end to it.

All these letters were written from professional copywriters. If you’re on [name withheld] list he sends emails just like this.

I take very good people of the people I sponsor and have 100’s of testimonies to prove it.

I NEVER take people for granted. These are the messages are pre built for the a marketing system which you have the option to rewrite.

I provided you little help? How much time did I spend with you on skype on Sunday? I spend hours giving away free help to anybody who asks for it.

I believe I answered the questions you asked on Sunday through skype. (my note I spent 1 1/2 hours on skype)

Email subscriber “rebuttal”
“Quote”
I standby by my earlier comments about the inadequacy of the help. The help should be measured not on the time spent but tasks accomplished and the quality of the help. It is been about 10 days that I signed up for “this system” and it is still not setup. As far as I am concerned I would have liked to set it up on day 1. Nobody called me to find out if I needed help or not.
“End Quote”

My response
“Quote”
It’s been 10 days and when I need help I email or call or skype. There is a 24/7 chat room and excellent video tutorial…When I first started online I called when I needed help I didn’t blame my upline for not being able to read minds…
All the folks who want help from us get and don’t wait 10 days.
“End Quote”

And another response from subscriber:
“Quote”
You spent significant time trying to help but were not able to help goes long way to prove that you didn’t have the expertise. If you couldn’t help, you did nothing to solicit help from somebody who could help me and abandoned me helpless. Why should you be my sponsor?
“End Quote”

My response
“Quote”
I do know how to set up [name withheld]. What else can I help you with? Plus there are videos that walk you through each step. And there is a button in your back office that says Support. What else do you want me to help you with?
“End Quote”

And my final response for good measure
“Quote”
What else needed to be done? You didn’t want to set up the some of the links. You didn’t want to use aweber which is part of the whole system. And as far as being your sponsor? Maybe you’re right.

I did not abandon you and you well you know that. You asked me where to set up your links and I showed you that.
You said you watched the videos; however, I’m wondering if you did because the videos spell it out in detail. The whole system
is explained in video in detail.

So I would rather that you requested a move. Just doesn’t seem to be a good fit here anyway. Oh, and those auto responder emails
are part of the system…and since you don’t like the message maybe this system is not a good system for you to be using.
“End Quote”

That was the end of our conversation. You’re probably wondering why in the hell Holly is sharing all of this…and that is the subject of my next post.

Stay tuned…

Oh wait before I go I have to say that if you signed up for a system where the tutorials are step-by-step don’t wait 10 days before you complain…

So go ahead Dish It Out I Can Take It…let me know your thoughts on this post.

PPCWebspy What Took Me So Long?

PPCWebspy is all that it promises. I can not believe I waited.

I’ve been looking at this since I received Brad’s email and have been putting it off. How stupid was that!

I can now add another level to my keyword search when I’m researching for our blog posts, articles, emails and more. Being able to spy on my competition is the coolest thing.

After I downloaded the software I entered a competitor’s keyword in the google search; my PPC Web Spy showed me the competitions keywords. Here is a print screen to show you how it works. I can even copy the keywords to my pc and add to it as I continue my research.

RSS Feeds Strategy #15

RSS Feeds…what are they?

rssYou know those funny looking icons; usually orange–yeah I know mine black :-) –That represents a site that has a feed. Yes I use them. But what I like most about using feeds for reading other blogs is that it by-passing my email filters.

I use google feedburner for my feeds. It’s easy and you will receive some analytic tools to see where your blog readers are coming from.

Google reader is a great source for that. For example, when I subscribe to someone’s blog/website it goes to my Google reader. That way when I get time I can go and look at the topics in my read to stay updated on my favorite sites. It also keeps my email inbox a little cleaner.

But that is not what we’re talking about when with RSS Feeds submissions.

If you have several feeds oh and by the way you an even create feeds for your youtube channels you should be submitting those feeds to directories and search engines.

Affiliate Marketing Strategy #14

Affiliate marketing is strong. With the recent launch of the Arbitrage report it seems that is all the “guru” marketers are talking about.

But we’re talking about using affiliate marketing on a smaller scale. If you look closely at most folks blogs they are using affiliate links throughout. Yes including this one. And if you’re not; well, you need to be.

Forum Posting Strategy #13

Forum posting is another important piece that many overlook in their marketing blueprint.

While most of you know what forums are there are some who still use forums as one big spam dump. If you’re one of those—STOP! It’s not worth it. Provide value when you’re in a forum and never use spam techniques when making your posts. Most forums allow you to have a “bio”. Make sure your bio is well-written.

Forums must be mastered if you truly want to dominate your market. A lot of people do not like to market the forums. However, if you go to a forum with the thought of ALWAYS giving value it can be an awesome resource for your online marketing campaigns.

Make sure the forum you’re using is not on any blacklist as this can be bad for your site. Only go to the more trusted forums.

Here are just a few of the more popular ones:
Mike’s Marketing Forum
The Warriors Forum
Michael Green’s How–To Forum
Work At Home Mom’s Forum

Blog Comments Strategy # 12

Blog comments…do you visit other blog sites and post relevant content?

Take 15 minutes a day and search for blogs that relevant topics to your website. Post valuable comments to those blog posts.

When you are posting the blog comments NEVER put your link in the comment area. You put your name, your email (not shown), and your website in the appropriate boxes.

Holly Recommends Blog Comment Demon

I don’t know about you but I read the comments on our blog! What do you usually do? You visit their website right? A good goal is 20 blog comments a day. Now, if you’re real smart you’ll be outsourcing that task.

But that is a subject for another blog post.
